The Belt-Up School of Motoring near Bath, which includes the fleet driver coaching business Enterprise Solutions, has acquired the Street-based Atlas Driving School.
The deal forms part of Belt-Up’s ambitious plans to expand its driving instructor franchise model within the region.
The company, which currently has ten franchisees operating in the Bath and Bristol area, is on course to double its turnover to £250,000 this year.
Atlas was set up by Patrick Tucker who will receive a percentage of the profits generated by Atlas which will continue to operate under its own name as a subsidiary of the Belt-Up School of Motoring.
Mr Tucker, who has been a driving instructor since 1969, set up the Tor School of Motoring in 1972 which he sold before launching Atlas in 1990.
Josef Harle, founder of the Paulton-based Belt-Up School of Motoring and a director of Enterprise Solutions, said: “Patrick is a well known and respected driving instructor in Somerset, and Atlas is a long-established name, especially in the Glastonbury and Street area.
“Belt-Up’s driving instructors operate mainly in the Bath and Bristol area but acquiring the Atlas brand will enable us to expand our operations further south into Somerset.”
