Over 5,000 men and women from Bath and beyond put on their hats, and dressed to impress at this year’s Ladies Day event at Bath Racecourse on Saturday 30th August.
Doors opened at 2.30pm and despite a little bit of wind, the spirit of the day was toasted with seven horse races, fun theatrical performances from the Natural Theatre Company, selfie photo framing opportunities with The Framing Workshop and competitions for Best Dressed, Best Hat and Best Shoes.
The first races kicked off in style at 4.45pm followed by the competitions at 5.50pm which saw more than 200 women battle it out to be crowned Best Dressed, Best Hat and Best Shoes with prizes ranging from an Osprey handbag, to Twilight packages for two at the Thermae Bath Spa, Afternoon Tea and of course the beautifully hand-crafted pink trilby hat as designed by couture milliner Lisa Von Hallwyl to name but a few.
Jo Hall, Executive Director at Bath Racecourse said: “The atmosphere at this year’s Ladies Day was fantastic. The races went down a storm and we were thrilled to have so many entries into our competitions which were great fun and made even more entertaining by the witty contributions from the Natural Theatre Company.”
“Overall, the day was a huge success, thank you to our title sponsor Clarks Village and everyone else who was involved in creating such an enjoyable and memorable day.”
Ladies Day also helped raise money for The Bath Rugby Foundation, with five volunteers shaking their buckets for the cause and raising awareness of the charity itself and its work to enhance the lives of young people in the area through sport.
