Local residents are being warned by the Met Office to expect a band of heavy rain across the south of England throughout Monday.
A yellow weather warning has been issued by the weather forecaster, with heavy rain expected to cause some localised flooding across the area.
Bands of rain are expected to move across Somerset during the day, bringing rainfall accumulations of 20 to 40 mm.
The public are also being advised that there may be some impacts to holiday traffic and other outdoor activities.
The Met Office’s chief forecaster said: “A complex area of low pressure looks like bringing an unpleasant day’s weather to much of the south on Monday.
“Rainfall amounts look like exceeding 20 mm quite widely, while a few places might see around 40 mm, so there will be a lot of surface water and spray on roads.
“The spray will probably be made worse by strong winds across some southern area; gusts to around 40 mph may occur at some coastal locations although this will depend on the exact track of the low pressure.”
The weather warning is in force from 6am until 11.50pm.
