Some of the most popular and successful bands in the region have received the backing of Peasedown St John Parish Council for this year’s Party in the Park festival.
Last Tuesday night, the council agreed to sponsor the Main Stage at this year’s Party in the Park festival, adding its name to a long list of other organisations that are sponsoring the event in variety of ways.
Danny Brothers, the festival’s entertainment manager, welcomed the news: “To have our local parish council supporting Peasedown’s biggest event is fantastic news. Especially as they have agreed to sponsor the Main Stage, which is full of acts and performances.
“The talent we have performing this year is second to none.
“We’re expecting up to 3,000 people to come along on June 14th. We have a full line up of entertainment acts and performances from Heat, Whytehouse, Worry Dolls, Susan Hill School of Dance and the Victoria Hall Battle of the Bands winners – Rivers of England.”
Performing at this year’s festival are:
Heat
Returning for a second year in a row to Party in the Park are HEAT, a six piece whose repertoire consists of a range of genres including pop, rock, 1970’s disco right and the hits of today. After closing last year’s festival, Heat will return to get you dancing in the mid-afternoon sun as our headline act at 3pm.
Worry Dolls
Zoe Nichol and Rosie Jones first met at Paul McCartney’s old school in Liverpool and, having previously been solo artists, joined forces to form Worry Dolls. After a year of travelling in the early days of the band, they settled in London and are now a staple of the folk scene, playing a number of times at last year’s Glastonbury Festival. For lovers of quirky, indie-folk, this will be a real treat.
Whytehouse
Founded on the whim after a staff Christmas party in 2000 in Whitehouse Road in Bedminster, Whytehouse have been gigging ever since at night clubs, black tie balls, weddings, sporting events and private parties. With a hit list ranging from songs by Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash to Chesney Hawkes and Scouting For Girls there’s something for everyone in a Whytehouse set.
Susan Hill School Of Dancing
Another group to make a return to Party in the Park this year is Susan Hill’s School of Dancing. This has been a ground breaking year for the group with a relocation into the recently refurbished Victoria Hall and they will be demonstrating a number of routines in two slots at this year’s event.
Bath Spa Brass Band
After a popular performance at our Christmas in the Park event last December, Bath Spa Brass Band are back to open Party in the Park in style! The band has a history of over 90 years and was originally called the St James Mission Church Band before the urge to compete saw them change their name in 1930 to the Bath Spa Imperial Band. “Imperial” was dropped from the name in 1968. The band competes in brass band competitions locally and take part in regular concerts throughout the year.
Rivers Of England (Winner of Battle Of The Bands 2014)
On Friday, April 25th the inaugural Battle of the Bands was held in Victoria Hall in Radstock with the winner earning a prime slot at Party in the Park 2014. The winners were popular local act Rivers of England who will bring their unique blend of modern folk to the event. The band have a unique, alternative acoustic sound and have recently returned from a European tour. Two weeks after Party in the Park they will be performing just down the road at the Glastonbury Festival.
