The University of Bath has appointed construction company VINCI Construction UK to build a new £20m academic building, at their Claverton Down Campus.
The new academic research and teaching building will be located on the Western end of the University’s Claverton Down Campus and will feature a conference suite that will be linked to an impressive glass atrium.
The new department continues the relationship between the University and contractor following the successful completion of the Chancellor’s Building – a dynamic hub for learning and teaching – in 2013.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Dame Glynis Breakwell said: “I am delighted to see work start. The new buildings will offer a fantastic setting for both our teaching and research.
“This will further enhance our teaching, which was rated as the best in the UK for student satisfaction in the recent National Student Survey, and help us to grow our international reputation for research excellence.”
Peter Cole, Regional Director for VINCI Construction UK, said: “We are delighted to be working again with the University to create a modern department which will have the facilities to exert best practice. With innovative resources, pupils will push new boundaries in learning and development.”
The University has secured £150m investment and having already been recognised for their impressive facilities – ranked first for student satisfaction in the National Student Survey and titled the Best Campus University in Britain in The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide – will only further enhance their first-class facilities.
